OverviewMastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division math facts increases students’ mathematical fluency allowing students to spend more time discovering, learning, and applying concepts and less time working on simple computations. By the end of fifth grade, students should be able to multiply 0 through 10 times 0 through 10. By the end of sixth grade, students should be able to multiply 0 through 12 times 0 through 12. Students should also be able to use the inverse of these math facts for division math facts.
Students are expected to successfully complete at least ten levels every quarter and successfully complete levels A through T and levels 1 through 10 by the end of the school year. Students who do complete these levels before the end of the year are given the opportunity to develop their computational ability further on the challenge levels of AA through II which begins to introduce three-digit math facts. Program StructureThe sixth grade multiplication and division math facts program is broken down into levels A through T and levels 1 through 10. Students are expected to complete 50 problems in 3 minutes with a 100% accuracy to successfully pass a particular level. Students must successfully complete a level before moving onto the next level. Each level is listed on the table to the right, and the numbers progressively increase. For example, Level F, 0-5, means the student is expected to be able to multiply 0 through 12 times 0 through 5. Level G, 5 and 6, means the students is expected to be able to multiply 0 through 12 times 5 and 6.

Learning Math Facts
To help students review and memorize the math facts, leveled study sheets are available for the student to take home, and they are also linked to this webpage below. Practice flashcards at home are an excellent review as well. Challenge games between family members are fun to play and help all family members review their facts. Also, there is a list of math fact review websites posted on the Woodfield website. To access theses websites, go to the Woodfield Computer Lab Links webpage:
http://wgsd.sharpschool.net/computer_lab_links
From the Computer Lab Links page, select Grade 6. Scroll down and select Fun Addition & Subtraction Sites or Fun Multiplication & Division Sites. On this page are a list of websites that help students practice their math facts. Some of the sites listed allow the students to specify exactly which math facts they want to practice. If you find a good practice website, please let me know, and it will be added to our collection.

XtraMath.org
XtraMath.org is a wonderful website to practice and master math facts. When a student completes a level, he or she receives a certificate to share with his or her family. Parents can also keep track of their child's progress. Information is sent home the first week of school to help parents get connected.
